Join our nursing team!

As a nurse from a non-EU country, we offer you a six-month course to help you get your qualifications recognized.

During this time, we will prepare you thoroughly for the state knowledge test in health and nursing (Kenntnisprüfung).

After completing the course and passing the test, we would be happy to welcome you as a nurse to our team!

What is the curriculum of the course?

The course takes six months and is divided into 11 weeks of practical and 11 weeks of theoretical classes.

The practical part consists of 2 orientation weeks, 6 weeks of practical work at the DHZB (e.g. in the areas of cardiac surgery, cardiology, pediatrics) either in the early or late shift as well as 3 weeks of preparation for the practical exam.

Part of the theoretical classes are German lessons with special emphasis on the job-related vocabulary. During this phase, all of the lessons take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

In total, a maximum of 16 participants will take part in each course.

The course concludes with an oral and practical knowledge test.

After passing the exam, all graduates are permitted to use the professional title “Gesundheits- und Krankenpfleger*in”.

How much do I earn during the course?

During the course, we will employ you as a nursing assistant and pay approx. EUR 2,762 gross per month.

From February 1, 2022, your gross salary will automatically increase to approx. EUR 2,827 per month.

What happens after passing the knowledge test?

After you have passed the exam, we look forward to welcoming you to our team as a nurse. Of course, we consider your professional experience abroad when determining your salary level.

We put great emphasis on a thorough induction for all our new employees. During this time, we offer you an additional free language course, depending on your needs. It may mean that you take part in a language course two days a week and work on your ward in the remaining three days.

Of course, you are not on your own there either. You can find more details about our induction concept here.

Our integration manager Anja Melloh is also happy to help you settle at DHZB.

We published a live talk with Anja Melloh on our intensive care unit for children. Starting at 00:24, Hazel, who came to Germany from the Philippines a little over a year ago, describes her experiences at DHZB. You can find the video of the live talk here.
