First Point of Contact for Patients

The diagnosis of a Congenital heart defect often brings with it many questions and worries for the patients and their relatives.
We want to offer them optimal medical care and respond to their individual concerns – if necessary, throughout their lifetime. We therefore place particular emphasis on care and advice for teenagers and adults with congenital heart defects. In addition to issues of medical treatment, questions always arise regarding schooling, choice of profession and the prospect of having one’s own children. We would like to help you with these questions.
Our outpatient department is the first port of call for patients and their families. They are welcomed and cared for by an experienced and committed team. Our treatment rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art methods of diagnosis. We also offer a number of special clinics, which will be explained here
Our Specialized Clinics:

We are also pleased to assist all Fontan patients who wish to consult us for the first time.
Special appointments for Fontan patients may be made in our outpatient department.

For Patients with Heart Failure
Simply put, heart failure means an inability of the heart to pump sufficient blood to the body. Heart failure has different causes and degrees of severity. The experienced doctors of our Department have at their disposal all possible methods for the diagnosis and treatment of heart failure. In the area of mechanical circulatory support, our Department is a world leader.

For Patients with Pulmonary Hypertension
Pulmonary hypertension (elevated lung pressure) means raised pressure in the arteries leading from the heart to the lung. The right ventricle must pump the blood against this elevated pressure. As a result, the right ventricle may become damaged and congestion of the blood may occur. The causes and degrees of severity of this condition are manifold. The specialized doctors of our Department work with all the available means to diagnose and treat the disorder.
Special appointments for patients with heart failure may be made in our outpatient department.
For Children with Heart Transplants
Children with a donor heart need close and careful medical care by a team of specialists, especially in the first few years after the transplantation. Our team has many decades of experience in heart transplantation.
