Adult Cardiac Anesthesia and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

In six operating rooms, two of which are hybrid suites, and in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), the adult cardiac anesthesiology team cares for patients undergoing procedures across the entire spectrum of adult cardiothoracic and vascular surgery as well as interventional cardiology.

Paediatric cardioanaesthesia

The division of pediatric cardiac anesthesiology / anesthesiology for patients with congenital heart disease provides anesthesia for patients of all age groups including premature babies and neonates as well as adults in two operating rooms.

Intensive Care Medicine

A total of 44 fully equipped and staffed advanced intensive care beds are available across two adult interdisciplinary intensive care units (ITS1 and ITS2) at the German Heart Center Berlin.

Transeosophageal echocardiography (TEE) is a core skill of cardiac anesthesiologists. TEE is the most comprehensive tool for the evaluation of cardiac and hemodynamic function perioperatively but is also essential for preoperative planning and post-procedural assessment and to identify complications.
