Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery

  • Prof. Dr. med. Volkmar Falk:
    72 months, specialist qualification (“Facharzt”) in cardiac surgery
  • Prof. Dr. med. Felix Schönrath:
    18 months, specialist qualification (“Facharzt”) in internal medicine and cardiology (6 months basic and 12 months specialization in internal medicine and cardiology)
  • Dr. med.Semih Buz
    48 months, specialist qualification (“Facharzt”) in cardiac surgery
  • Dr. med. Karsten Weller:
    18 months, additional continuing education in intensive medicine


Please note:

  • The requirement of time spent in intensive medicine (6 months) that is necessary for the specialist qualification (“Facharzt”) in internal medicine may be fulfilled under the supervision of Dr. Kemper.
  • For a physician in continuing education, a maximum of 30 months spent in the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery can be counted towards the specialist qualification in internal medicine.
  • For the additional further education program in intensive medicine a maximum of 18 months in the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery can be counted.
  • The times necessary for the additional further qualification in intensive medicine may be undertaken before the “Facharzt” qualification is finished.

 

 

Department of Internal Medicine – Cardiology

  • Prof. Dr. med. Philipp Stawowy:
    48 months Specialist in Internal Medicine and Cardiology (6 months basic further training,
    6 months UPV and 36 months Specialist competence in Internal Medicine and Cardiology)
  • PD Dr. med. Michael Gräfe:
    12 months, education in internal medicine and cardiology
  • Prof. Dr. med. Sebastian Kelle:
    12 months, additional education in MRI (discipline-dependent)

Department of Congenital Heart Disease – Pediatric Cardiology

  • Prof. Dr. med. Felix Berger:
    24 months, specialist qualification (“Facharzt”) in pediatric medicine
    36 months, specialization in pediatric cardiology
  • PD Dr. med. Björn Peters:
    24 months, additional education in intensive medicine

Department of Congenital Heart Surgery – Pediatric Surgery

  • Prof. Dr. med. Joachim Photiadis:
    36 months, specialist qualification (“Facharzt”) in cardiac surgery

Institute for Anesthesiology

  • Prof. Dr. med. Benjamin O´Brien:
    36 months, specialist qualification (“Facharzt”) in anesthesiology

Important notes:

  • Due to the highly complex nature of the patient population, the Institute for Anaesthesia primarily offers positions for specialists.
  • In the case of special suitability, applications in the last year of the FA training can be considered.
  • Please refrain from applications from physicians in the first four years of further training - thank you.
