The DHZB is an international reference center and at the same time an officially certified supraregional EMAH center of excellence for the treatment of congenital heart defects in adulthood. These patients are mostly characterized by multiple pre-treatments and high concomitant morbidity, which results in a high treatment intensity and complexity. The German Heart Center Berlin continues to be one of the top maximum care centers in Europe, with approximately 200 inpatients annually treated by the EMAH, both nationally and internationally. The high proportion of interventionally treated patients is an expression of the clinic's specialisation in these minimally invasive and at the same time more gentle forms of treatment.
