Prof. Dr. med. Felix Berger
Director, Department of Congenital Heart Disease – Pediatric Cardiology
Our services
In the Clinic for Congenital Heart Defects - Paediatric Cardiology we have been caring for patients with congenital heart defects of all ages by a highly specialised team for more than 25 years. In addition to the standardised surgical and interventional correction options, we offer individual treatment solutions especially for patients with highly complicated heart defects.
Our Team
We are a specialized team of doctors, nurse, physiotherapists, psychologists and social workers, caring for patients of all age groups. Our Department has a specialist intensive care unit, an outpatient department for congenital heart disease and a Competence Center for adults with congenital heart defects. The different professions work together to enable the best possible treatment for each patient.
Study: Heart damage in children with COVID-19
Studies on adults have shown that the "corona virus" can also attack the heart and lead to long-term inflammation - even with a mild course of the disease. Doctors at the German Heart Institute in Berlin want to find out whether and how often this is also the case in children. The clinic therefore offers an MRI examination of the heart for children who have survived a "corona" infection. This gives the parents certainty as to whether the virus has also damaged the heart.
Sport with congenital heart defect
The German Heart Centre Berlin and the Sport-Club Charlottenburg (SCC) have launched a sports group for people with congenital heart defects. The planning phase has now finally been completed. The group does sports together in a safe environment and under experienced guidance.
