The German Heart Institute Berlin was certified according to the criteria of the Cooperation for Transparency and Quality in Health Care (KTQ) until November 2020. The independent association evaluates the patient and employee orientation, the communication and information system as well as the risk and quality management of the participating clinics within the framework of extensive testing procedures and is one of the most important certification institutions in the health care system. The DHZB has successfully passed the examinations for the renewal of the three-year certificate five times. In view of the forthcoming unification of the cardiac medicine capacities of the DHZB and the Charité, the aim is now to achieve joint quality certification according to DIN/ISO criteria.
