April 2010:
"The Pauline" Now Has New Conference Center and Guest-House
At the end of 2009 the DHZB partner institution, the Paulinen Hospital, opened its new conference center, which provides modern rooms for conferences, symposia and meetings for up to 110 participants. The former annex to the main building has been thoroughly remodeled and now houses the conference center's two halls and a modern kitchen that is equipped to meet catering needs of all categories as well as individual wishes. “This means that it is no longer necessary to visit the main building and that the atmosphere for the staff in their breaks remains cohesive and more pleasant, particularly as there is direct access to the well-kept garden, which is particularly inviting in summer,” explained Birgit Drischmann, graduate economist and administrative director of the Paulinen Hospital.
The conference rooms are equipped with modern technical equipment (monitors, beamers, viewing screens, audiosystems and the internet) and are available to both internal and external users; they can also be rented at a reasonable price for private festivities.
The building also houses a guest-house with eleven generous apartments, five of them two-room suites with separate living and sleeping areas, all with WC, shower, TV, internet access and kitchenette, that enable tired conference participants to retire at the end of the day. The guests value the peace of the guest-house, situated as it is in a leafy area but at the same time not far from the International Congress Center and the Kurfürstendamm shopping street. “With our marketing concept, which includes premises for modern surgeries for community based doctors on the premises, we are striking out in new directions,” said Drischmann.
