Facts and Figures

Each year we perform around 3,500 operations using the heart-lung machine and over 1,000 other operations on the heart and blood vessels.

In addition, about 4,000 diagnostic and more than 1,500 invasive procedures (heart catheterization) are carried out in patients with congenital (inborn) heart defects, mainly children, and acquired heart problems.

The DHZB has 162 beds, 50 of them for intensive care. A further 150 beds are available at the Paulinen Hospital the associated after-care center, 15 of which are in a private ward known as "Andalucia".

We employ 1200 people as doctors, nurses, administrative and technical personnel.

The DHZB has a cooperative partnership with the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin.

Since 2002 the DHZB has been certified by KTQ, "Cooperation for Quality and Transparency in Health Care." This is a national quality control procedure for hospitals, whereby external inspectors assess all aspects of health care institutions. The KTQ certification documents the high quality standards of our hospital.
