KTQ® recertification process successfully completed

From 21.-23.10.2008 the Deutsches Herzzentrum Berlin underwent auditing by KTQ® ("Co-operation for Quality and Transparency in Health Care"), which is a recognized nationwide procedure for the quality certification of hospitals. After these three days it was announced that the DHZB had once again received certification with above average results. This renewed certification is the result of three years of intensive work on various projects.

Using systematic evaluation criteria all hospital processes affecting both patients and employees were investigated and assessed. Further, the handling of medical information, data protection and work safety were examined. Leadership strategies and the structure of the institution's quality management were also assessed.

In their report the KTQ® examiners reached the conclusion that:

"The Deutsches Herzzentrum Berlin (DHZB) remains a highly specialized, high-performance hospital with an excellent international reputation. The DHZB ensures that all cardiac illnesses are treated in accordance with the latest medical and technological standards. Patients receive highly professional health care in a patient-friendly atmosphere."

The KTQ® certificate, which is valid for three years and must then be renewed, was presented on 8.12.2008 in a ceremony held in the White Hall of the DHZB in the presence of Dr. Günther Jonitz, president of the Berlin Medical Association.
